This day is very different from the usual falconry experience day, and you need to be reasonably physically adept as flying falcons is much more difficult than it looks or than flying a hawk to the fist. If you play balls games then this does help. There is less bird handling on this day because you have to spend time learning to swing the lure for the bird.
The day starts at 10.00 with a falcon flying to your fist then a break for coffee and a chat to find out what your interests are. This is followed by a short guided tour of the birds with particular emphasis on the falcons, and some handling of falcons. You will then start to learn to swing a lure for a falcon.
Please understand that this is a complicated process and takes up a good deal of the day, reducing the time actually spent with the birds, so if you are more interested in just having birds on your fist, choose the Hawk Experience Day. Having a falcon fly to the lure while you are in control is very exciting, but we have been told somewhat nerve racking, so choose carefully!! After lunch you will watch one of the demonstrations. Then you will return to practising the lure swinging.
