Photo Experience Day at the ICBP

This day is designed for all photographers regardless of their experience or equipment, so whether you are a novice, a club or a professional, you will have a wonderful day and great photo opportunities. There will be the chance to photograph static birds on natural perches in natural surroundings, and a wide variety of flying birds, one of which will be flying just for you at close quarters. The maximum number of participants is eight people, unless you have a special request for a larger group, in which case we can discuss the options.

Your day starts at 10.00am with a move straight into the fields owned by the Centre and the chance to photograph one of the birds in natural surroundings, and flying towards the photographers.

We then break for coffee, and discussion as to what everyone hopes to achieve on the day, followed by a short guided tour of the trained birds in the Hawk Walk and a look at the photo opportunities

The first flying demonstration is at 11.30. Up to five birds of various differing species will be flown free in the field. Those on the photography day will have a special area set aside so they can photograph the birds without visitors in the way.

Following the demonstration two birds will be brought out one at a time and placed on natural perches in natural environments in fields away from the public for you to photograph. The falconer will tell you about the birds while you are working.

Lunch is provided by the Centre, this will usually be a ploughman’s lunch with hot soup in colder weather. At anytime you are welcome to wander round the Centre and take photos, we particularly suggest the Hawk Walk where the birds are close without wire

The second flying demonstration with different birds flown free, follows at 2.00pm again with special access for those on the day.

After the demonstration, we move to a quiet area and bring out another bird to be placed on natural perch. This is followed by a trained bird on a walk with the photographers in a neighbouring field.

The last demonstration of the day is at 4.15, with more and different birds to get your eye in for the action shots.

The cost of this day is £80 per person to include coffee and lunch, and a staff member to help you. Remember not only can you get this for yourself, or organise a day for your camera club, but it also makes a great present as a voucher. And think how much time and fuel you save buying it over the phone.  Please contact us for more information.

Please note: We apologise but should it occur that there are not enough people to make the course viable for us we will have to ask you to choose another date. We need to have at least 5 people on the photography days.
