Satnav
You are advised that some of the lanes in this part of Gloucestershire are narrow and that if you set your satnav to 'Shortest route' you may have to fold your mirrors in! The road to the Centre is quite negotiable by sensible routes, so use a map, or look at the one we have provided here
If you are approaching from Newent town (best route) and your satnav announces that 'You have reached your destination', you will still have about half a mile to go - straight down the road - it is on your left.
Jemima's instructions:
OK first thing to do is throw away your Satellite Navigator and don’t trust those damn maps on the computer either. Find Newent on a map and get there on main roads, either from Gloucester, Ross, or the Leominster road.
From the west or North West I would suggest the M50, which is pretty easy to find on a map, we are about five miles from the first junction if you are driving east, and the third one if you are driving west. Turn off and be careful it is a sharp turn off the motorway, and head for Newent. Once you get there you will come to a set of traffic lights, turn right into the town and then –
OK let me bring in people from elsewhere. If you are coming from the east, best course is to aim for Gloucester, take the A40 out towards Ross on Wye and then watch for the signs to Newent. You turn right across the dual carriageway and you have about a seven mile drive on a reasonable road to Newent. Watch out for the speed camera at the end of Highnam. Don’t take the first turn into Newent, go round the bypass and you will come to the traffic lights
– Turn left and then you are driving into the town, the road is narrow and there are cars parked which makes it tricky. Take the first Right called Watery Lane and it should be signed to ICBP. Drive out of the town and here the road will get narrow. Once out of the speed limit you head west on the road, when you see a farm house directly in front of you the road bears left and then right – follow that – don’t turn off. Keep going for about a mile, we are just past the fourth house on the left.
